One year of students is wasted but the result is based on 10th and 12th class. Professor Nasrullah Said that the committee has permitted.
Peshawar (News Reporter) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Boards Committee has taken a significant step by deciding to abolish the notion of failure for ninth and eleventh-grade students. Starting in 2024, no student will face failure in the 9th and 11th grades. Chairman of the Peshawar Education Board, Professor Nasrullah Khan Yousafzai, shared with Express News that during a meeting of the All Chairman Board Committee, he proposed this idea. The rationale behind this move is that many students who fail in the ninth and eleventh grades tend to discontinue their studies.
Conversely, in numerous schools, students who fail in three or four subjects are not permitted to sit for the 10th-grade exams. Consequently, these students lose a whole year, as their fate depends solely on the results of the 10th-grade exams. To address this, the committee reached a consensus to provide these students with an opportunity to advance to the 10th and 12th grades instead of holding them back due to failures. This proposition gained approval from other provincial board chairpersons, and the committee formally endorsed the decision.
Professor Nasrullah Khan Yousafzai further elaborated that starting with the annual board exams in 2024, the concept of failure will be eliminated for the 9th and 11th grades results. Irrespective of the number of subjects in which students face challenges, they will be promoted to the next grade – be it ninth or tenth.
